ABOUT
Stealing Sheep’s sound mixes electronic pop, disco, Italo, 80’s synthesisers and sci-fi ambiances with ethereal vocal lines and obscure three-part harmonies. Their live show explores audio-visual sequences, costume, movement and special effects.
They are based in Liverpool, UK where they collaborate with artists based in their resident art-space ‘The Invisible Wind Factory’. Members include Rebecca Hawley (keys & vocals), Luciana Mercer (Drum kit & vocals) and multi-instrumentalist Emily Lansley (Lap-steel, Guitar, Bass, synth & vocals).
In 2010 they released their first LP entitled ‘Paper Moon’ (Heavenly Recordings), their debut album ‘Into the Diamond Sun’ (Heavenly Recordings) closely followed in 2011. In 2015 they released their second studio album ‘NOT REAL’ (Heavenly Recordings), which featured the namesake single ‘Not Real’ and the video for second single ‘Apparition’. In 2019 they released their third album ‘BIG WOWS’ (Heavenly Recordings), including ‘Jokin’ Me’, ‘Show Love’ and ‘Why Haven’t I’?
In 2020 they released a sci-fi soundtrack as part of the Fire Records ‘Imagined Scores Series’ entitled ‘La Planéte Sauvage’ in collab with ‘The Radiophonic Workshop’. This sold out of the Dinked Edition and is now on its third edition pressing. In 2021 they released a conceptual album entitled ‘WOW MACHINE’ with a gender alliance label based in Manchester called BOTH SIDES RECORDS. They are currently writing their fourth album due to come out in 2024.
